Why I became a teacher: I come from a family of teachers. Both of my parents are teachers, and so I always wanted to be one! Through jobs as a babysitter and camp counselor as a teenager, I decided that the age I liked working with best was elementary school, so that’s what I went to college for. I love feeling like my job is meaningful each day!
Why I became a union rep: Before getting the position in Medford, I had a job in another district where myself and the other teachers were treated with very little respect and were afraid to speak out to administration about how they felt, even tenured veterans. I knew that it wasn’t right for dedicated and hard-working professionals to have to feel this way every day at work. Then when I got the job here and a Building Rep position opened up, I jumped at the chance to work for the fair treatment of all my fellow teachers.
When I’m not teaching, I like to: act in community theatre shows, travel, play board games, go out to eat with friends, hug my cat, work for progressive change in my community
